Cost Controller & Cost Engineer
Apex Core Engineering is urgently recruiting an experienced Cost Controller / Cost Engineer for a shutdown project in Saudi Arabia under Abdullah Al-Baraq Company. This is a specialized technical and financial role designed for professionals with strong expertise in cost management during shutdowns and turnaround projects. The position plays a critical role in controlling project budgets, tracking expenditures, and ensuring financial efficiency throughout high-pressure industrial shutdown operations. Key Responsibilities
The Cost Controller / Cost Engineer will be responsible for preparing detailed shutdown budgets using Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS). The role includes estimating costs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors while ensuring accurate financial planning. The candidate will monitor actual project expenditures, perform variance analysis between planned and actual costs, and recommend corrective actions to maintain budget compliance. Responsibilities also include managing change orders, evaluating subcontractor claims, and ensuring proper approval of all commercial variations.
In addition, the role involves preparing daily and weekly cost control reports, forecasting cash flow requirements, and delivering final shutdown cost reports upon project completion. The candidate will also be responsible for reviewing supplier invoices, verifying payment certificates, and ensuring billing accuracy. Proper documentation of lessons learned and project closeout reporting will also be part of the responsibilities.
Skills and Experience Required
Applicants must have a minimum of 5+ years of experience in cost control, budgeting, and financial monitoring specifically in shutdown or turnaround projects. A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Finance, or a related field is required. Strong analytical skills, knowledge of cost tracking systems, and experience in industrial project environments are essential.
