Saudi Arabia’s industrial and energy projects depend on trained personnel who can work safely during demanding shutdown and maintenance periods. Shutdown assignments require disciplined teams because multiple trades often operate simultaneously under strict permit, safety, and access controls. A new urgent manpower requirement has been announced for a JIGPC shutdown project in Jizan, targeting candidates who already possess valid IDs and relevant approvals. The recruitment includes openings for WPRs, Safety Officers, Fire Watch personnel, Standby Men, and Helpers, with immediate consideration for properly qualified candidates.
Current Shutdown Recruitment Opportunity
The requirement covers several site-support and safety-related positions. Work Permit Receivers (WPRs) and Safety Officers are needed to support controlled work activities and workplace safety, while Fire Watch and Standby Man personnel provide essential monitoring during higher-risk operations. Helpers will assist project teams with general site activities and material support.
Shutdown work can be fast-paced, with strict schedules and multiple activities taking place at the same time. Candidates who already have the required project identification and approvals can be particularly suitable because they may be able to complete verification and mobilization more efficiently.
Responsibilities During Shutdown Operations
WPRs are responsible for working within the permit-to-work system and helping ensure that assigned activities are performed under approved conditions. They coordinate with supervisors and relevant site personnel and must understand the restrictions and safety controls associated with permitted work.
Safety Officers monitor working areas for hazards, support toolbox meetings and safety inspections, and encourage compliance with PPE and site procedures. They may also report unsafe conditions and assist supervisors in implementing corrective measures.
Fire Watch personnel monitor designated areas where hot work or other activities could create an ignition risk. They must remain alert, identify potential fire hazards, and communicate immediately if unsafe conditions develop. Standby Men provide continuous observation and support during designated high-risk activities, following instructions from the responsible safety or operations team.
Helpers support skilled workers with preparation, material movement, housekeeping, and other general project requirements while following site safety rules.
