Fire Watch / Standby Man
Fire Watch personnel, also known as Standby Men, are responsible for ensuring safety during hot work activities such as welding, cutting, and grinding. In industrial environments like Jubail, where petrochemical and construction operations are conducted under strict safety procedures, this role is essential for controlling fire hazards and maintaining safe work conditions.
The Fire Watch acts as a dedicated safety observer who continuously monitors hot work areas for sparks, ignition sources, and unsafe situations. Their role is vital in preventing workplace incidents, protecting manpower and equipment, and ensuring compliance with industrial safety regulations. This opportunity offers immediate mobilization for candidates who already hold Saudi Kayan authorization.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Selected candidates will be assigned to work zones where hot work activities are in progress. Their main responsibility is to observe operations closely and identify any fire-related hazards before they escalate.
Daily duties include checking the work area before hot work begins, ensuring fire extinguishing equipment is available and ready for use, monitoring welding and cutting operations, and reporting unsafe conditions immediately to supervisors. Fire Watch personnel must remain alert throughout the task and ensure that all safety procedures are strictly followed.
They are also responsible for maintaining safe access around the work zone, preventing unauthorized unsafe actions, and supporting site supervisors in maintaining compliance with industrial safety requirements.
Skills, Experience, and Eligibility
Applicants should have previous experience in industrial safety roles or similar field-based positions where hazard monitoring was required. Saudi Kayan authorization is mandatory, making this role suitable only for approved candidates.
Candidates must be physically fit, attentive, and able to work long hours in industrial environments. A basic understanding of workplace safety procedures, hazard awareness, and emergency response readiness is essential.
