During the activity, the Fire Watcher must maintain a clear view of the work area, remain alert to changing conditions, and immediately report hazards to the responsible supervisor. The role may also include monitoring nearby combustible materials, maintaining awareness of emergency access, and supporting the implementation of site fire-safety procedures.
After hot work is completed, the Fire Watcher may be required to continue monitoring the area for a specified period to ensure that no delayed ignition or smoldering material remains. Following PPE requirements and site safety instructions will be essential.
Skills, Experience & Eligibility
Candidates should understand basic workplace safety and fire-prevention procedures and be capable of remaining attentive for extended periods. Previous experience as a Fire Watcher on construction, industrial, or maintenance projects can be beneficial.
