Fire Watchman
A Fire Watchman plays an important role in maintaining fire prevention and workplace safety standards at industrial and construction sites. Core Responsibilities
The Fire Watchman is responsible for monitoring work areas where hot work or other fire-producing activities are taking place. Key duties include watching for sparks, flames, smoke, combustible materials, and other potential fire hazards during and after the completion of assigned work. The worker may be required to keep suitable fire-extinguishing equipment readily available, alert workers and supervisors when unsafe conditions are identified, and assist with initial emergency response according to established site procedures. A Fire Watchman must remain attentive throughout the assigned monitoring period and should not leave the designated area without proper authorization or replacement. Maintaining awareness of surrounding equipment, materials, access routes, and emergency arrangements is also important.
Required Trade Skills
Candidates should have a clear understanding of basic fire prevention practices and workplace safety requirements. Practical awareness of common industrial hazards, especially those associated with welding, cutting, grinding, and other hot-work activities, is valuable for this position. Applicants should be physically fit, attentive, responsible, and capable of following instructions from supervisors and safety personnel.
