Role Overview & Importance
A Rigger Level III plays a critical role during industrial shutdowns, where large equipment, piping components, tools, and materials often need to be lifted, positioned, and relocated safely. Experienced riggers work closely with lifting supervisors, crane operators, and other site personnel to ensure loads are properly secured and moved according to approved procedures. Their knowledge of rigging equipment, load-handling practices, and site safety requirements helps reduce operational risks and supports the smooth progress of shutdown activities.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Selected Rigger Level III workers will assist with lifting and material-handling operations throughout the shutdown project. Daily responsibilities may include inspecting rigging equipment, selecting suitable lifting accessories, securing and balancing loads, attaching slings and shackles correctly, and communicating with crane operators using recognized signals. Riggers may also assist with positioning equipment and materials within designated work areas. All activities must be performed according to approved lifting procedures, project safety requirements, and instructions from supervisors. Maintaining awareness of surrounding workers, equipment, and potential hazards will be essential.
Skills, Experience & Eligibility
Applicants should have 10th or 12th grade education and basic English communication skills. A minimum of 3–4 years of oil and gas experience within SABIC or Aramco projects is required. Candidates must hold a valid third-party Rigger Level III certificate, such as TUV, Bureau Veritas, or Standard certification. Applicants should have practical knowledge of industrial lifting operations, rigging equipment, load handling, and workplace safety. Candidates must also have valid project and employment documents and be immediately available for the shutdown assignment.
